FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

QUESTION: When can I apply for my Illinois Concealed Carry Permit?
ANSWER: Illinois State Police has stated that they will begin offering applications to the public by January 5, 2014.

QUESTION: What can I do in order to be prepared for my Illinois Concealed Carry Permit?
ANSWER: Assuming you have a valid FOID Card and meet the State of Illinois application requirements you will need to attend a 16 Hour Illinois Concealed Carry Training Certification Course. This course must be administered by a Concealed Carry Firearms Instructor (certified by the Illinois State Police) and must cover 16 hours of firearms curriculum which has been approved by the Illinois State Police. These 16 hour programs can be structured similar to the 8 Hour NRA Basic Pistol Course, and an 8 Hour Illinois Concealed Carry Course (CCW).  After successfully completing these two courses, you’ll receive a certificate indicating you have met all the training requirements necessary to obtain your Illinois Concealed Carry Permit.

QUESTION: Are current or former military exempt from any of the training?
ANSWER: The State of Illinois authorizes 8 Hours of credit towards your 16 Hours of training for all members of the US Military that have are either active duty, retired, or Honorably Discharged.  You must have a copy of your DD-214 and display it no later than the day of class. Watchdog Protection Agency prefers anyone with a DD-214 call us prior to Registering for class so we can apply a discount to your enrollment costs in appreciation for your service. We can then directly send you an invoice and save you additional time. We would also gladly extend discounts to the immediate family members of any military that register for our training. In the event a student reschedules within seven days of the class an additional rescheduling and processing fee of $75 will billed to the student to transfer the original registration fee. Students must call Watchdog Protection Agency directly to cancel registration.
